Re: Simon Magakwe sub-10

Lets see how he performs in cold and blustery Glasgow before we get carried away.
Good luck to him, and well done. But will he become Commonwealth Champion?

Re: New head of Field and Combined Events

More insulting remarks.... Your are not being 'Frank' in your remarks but rather plain offensive! Sailing close to the wind I suggest given the POA (1986) S5 Then I suggest you report your concerns to the police. The relevant section you threatened the commenter with is appended below for your full...

Re: Pointless IPC events

The reason I can't get overly excited about the Para-Olympics etc is because I cannot fathom out all the different categories of disability.
And sometimes the ''winner'' is not necessarily the person who actually finishes first.

Re: New head of Field and Combined Events

What a rediculous appointment, he should just be in charge of the jumps. Throws and especially muliti events require expert coaches of which in these fields Peter is not. Are you seriously suggesting that UKA should hire high performance coaches on full time salaries to oversee the programmes of th...

Re: Pistorius trial

Sidelined Your definition of a ''crime of passion'' (or ''crime passional'' from its original French source) differs from mine. For a start it can be committed by a man or a woman, and the defence would use such a plea in a similar way to a plea of temporary insanity. Anyway, I don't believe him to ...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

Jeremy, you do often make excellent points, but this is just a slightly incoherent diatribe and the points you're trying to make are obscured by a need to batter your opponent into submission with a wave of vitriol. Has anyone who professes themselves disgusted by the tone of a post on this forum e...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

A FW is a person whose politically correct attitude is best exemplified by accusing others that they "disrespect" athletes who lack the talent or attitude to get to the top, anything but calling a spade a spade. That bit of your post , Jeremy, is utter garbage. You have called me a ''flag...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

A so-called ''flag-waver'' is not necessarily xenophobic. In fact most definitely won't be. The last political party I would vote for were I still living in UK would be the Nationalist Party, (or whatever they call themselves now). Over the years I have watched (in admiration) many great athletes fr...

I will be watching the sprints this year, especially at the Commonwealths, hoping against hope that Gemili beats Bolt. :)
A rather ''short-sighted'' Nationalistic stance? You bet. But then I'm a flag-waver (and proud of it)......

No obvious junior ''superstars'' amongst those boys, but you never know who might make a breakthrough.

Re: Zharnel Hughes

Depends how you interpret ''Nationalism''. In terms of sport my definition would be that I support my National team and hope they win. Whether in cricket (I hated watching the Aussies turning us over recently), football, rugby, swimming....whatever. Individual sports the same ...I cheer on the Brits...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

Indeed J.J what colour vest they wear is of little significance, almost meaningless except, to those programmed to be nationalistic usually people who are often not actually involved with the sport of athletics in any way except for shouting and getting excited and having a day out. I would be just...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

Of course athletics is a individual sport but I suspect that pulling on the national vest matters very much indeed for the vast majority of athletes. It sure as hell matters to the fans. Would the Olympic stadium have gone ape if the winner of the men's 10K had been Kenyan, the women's hep Ukranian...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

I can see your point of view, Kermit. And I agree that an extraordinary amount of debate goes into this issue. But... Most athletes take huge pride in pulling on their National vest. The day they don't have that passion, or the day they all do it just for the money and themselves, will be the day I ...

Re: Outdoor season 2014

Unlike a lot of other posters on here , I do NOT see Rooney as an 800 runner at all.
He doesn't strike me as having the strength/endurance for two laps.
I'm probably totally wrong, and its just my gut feeling. It will be interesting to see how he does.

Re: Pistorius trial

How do other posters feel the trial has gone? I personally have heard nothing from the defence team that would lead me to believe he is innocent. Re: World Junior Championships

No matter who's ranked where at the moment one thing is relatively clear......it should be a very interesting outdoor season for our lady sprinters if they all manage to stay healthy.
The junior short relay squad looks awesome and will surely challenge for gold?

If Ashton Eaton runs anywhere near as fast as Ed Moses over 400 hurdles I would be shocked.
Probably to the same degree as when Mo broke the British 1500 metre record.
