Re: 2019 World Champs

Apologies Jimbo but I really can't resist, Atlanta is almost certainly still in the state of Georgia! In a more serious answer to your question, the Olympic Stadium there is in great shape, only it's now known as Turner Field and was reconfigured after the Games to be the home of the Atlanta Braves...

Re: 2019 World Champs

Amazing to think a country with the history of T&F that the US has, that they don't have the facilities to host a WC. What state is Atlanta in (financially and facilities-wise) - could they not step up to get a WC finally hosted by the US?

Her strength is amazing - I am genuinely in awe of the woman, when you consider how many British men she is better than

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

My view is you will have to wait a while before Mo does another Marathon. I agree. To me there is nothing in Mo's post-race interview to suggest that he was actually making the marathon his main speciality right away. I wouldn't be surprised if his next one is New York 2016 or London 2017 (the Lond...

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

Is there actually an admin for this forum, as the last few days have been filled with petty squabbling, putting off actual discussion. If they don't have enough time, they should get help, as it's dragging the place right down - I'm spending ages trying to read threads, just to find mud-slinging in ...

Re: 2014 Multi Events

I think we might just get there...whether the athletes then get selected is another question! For the women, you'd have to hope Ennis was back by then, so her, KJT and Morgan Lake would be favourites, though it would be nice to see some of the 5700+ girls step up In the Dec, you'd have to expect Ash...

Re: THE 2014 STATISTICAL REVIEW OF BRITISH ATHLETICS T&f

The burning question is; Why does this BigGuts get so desperatly wound up on this subject? If that's really what you see as 'the burning question' in this, life is much rosier than you would have us believe! Petty squabbling and focusing on individuals does nothing for the actual issues, on either ...

Re: Should London Marathon Offer Prizes Only To British Athl

Wow, that's quite an article, isn't it! This really is going back to the good old days when British people won things...because more talented athletes weren't there! way to inspire people to work harder and improve - take away the top level

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

Back on topic, given a 2.20 debut and her declining (in absolute terms) final last laps on the track, should BFD make the move to the marathon now and target that event in champs from 2015 and beyond?

Will her sister's form encourage her from or to the roads?

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

Of course they are fast times; I took Mump to mean Mo never tried to run his fastest times, as I'm sure no one here believes that he isn't capable of running quicker, he just hasn't needed to when at his peak - as winning medals was more his thing than all-time lists (not that the two are mutually e...

Re: World Junior Championships

Depending on 100m times, you may well see Dina and or Desiree double, but I very much doubt you'll see either in the open 400. With two per event the 200m is leaving behind a very capable young woman (Shannon and the other two) - who'd have thought we'd leave behind someone with the standard for the...

Re: Outdoor season 2014

1.53.52 for Rooney. He's already blogged - waited too long for the pacemaker, got boxed Felt like he was in 1.46 shape To be fair, even our top 800m runners get their tactics wrong but I have to be a little disappointed at a wasted opportunity - if he really was in 1.46 shape (and I suspect he was,...

Re: Zharnel Hughes

Today at the National Biathlon final I cheered on a girl I knew over the girl I knew would win - it doesn't make me any less a 'true fan' of the sport, I just had a connection with one. Good rivalry is surely something a true fan of the sport wants anyway

Re: Outdoor season 2014

Dedric Dukes runs the first sub 20 at the Florida Relays... 19.97 with a -0.6 headwind. Jodie Williams ran a 22.91 with a legal tail +1.3 wind. Noticeable that Joanna Atkins ran a wonderful 22.27 with a 1.3 tailwind. Is this the season we see Jodie fulfil her potential - at least in part? She norma...

I wonder if Atkins is looking to build speed during the Americans' 'off-season' - or maybe a permanent move?

Re: 2014 Multi Events

I hadn't realised how poor the depth was in the CW hep - anything can happen in the multis, so a medal could well be up for grabs on the day I think if Zelinka, Eaton and KJT are all on form - they will be the 3 medalists. If one isn't I think there could be a good fight for a very 'up for grabs' b...

Re: New BA 'Head of Power'

Indeed, and add a coach/athlete mentoring scheme as well, so coaches stay with their athletes all the way to the top 8) This is one of my pet hates; why should an athlete stay with a coach if the coach can't do any more for them? The athlete should not be dropping the coach without decency but sure...

Re: How to overthrow UK Athletics by John Bicourt

But that's not factually accurate. De Vos's 'salary' did not increase that much, his remuneration was increased due to a bonus. There is a difference you know... I think a lot of the random lines are not exactly factually accurate - but highly amusing to read, nevertheless. Perhaps that's what happ...

Re: GB Mens 400

I've never quite understood the 'when it matters' line being thrown at indoors - would Kilty take Euro 100m Champion over being World Indoor Champion - I doubt it. I'm pretty sure the 4x400m boys will feel the same of their silver, regardless of whether it was indoors or out.
