Re: Outdoor season 2014

Both Maz and Jenny running in the Doha DL on May 9th. Good to see both are still getting into this level of competition - they need to perform well so that the 'bigger' DLs ask for them too

Re: UK Sprint Queens

I think the camp is a good move forward - I did wonder why there seemed to be mixed training groups I think the w4x400m has been discussed at length because there's always been legitimate medal hopes, but cocked up by team selectors - the men's 4x400m has had discussion the last two years of us thro...

Re: UK Sprint Queens

As illogical as it may sound the Euro trials for the sprints are not as important as the races to be had at the Commonwealths where the better competition is. I also believe that if an event has strength in depth then a 3 past the post system would be more productive for the event, more drama for t...

Re: UK Sprint Queens

Laura Turner? I jest, of course. I do think this is the real deal - there's just too many of them for something good not to happen Annabelle seems very popular on the 3rd leg after Moscow, so I guess a quartet of Asha-Jodie-Annabelle-Anyika (not necessarily in that order) might be our best bet (Desi...

Re: Steve Cram to advise endurance runners for BA

Steve seems a nice guy and talks sence. My only reservation is would a coach be willing to let him/her athlete take advice from Steve Paula or Alberto. Coaches can be very possessive and wary of ouside involvment. Reminds me of an incident in the early 70's at Crystal Palace when a guy approached t...

Re: Outdoor season 2014

M400m very interesting: Rooney 3rd in 45.56 but great to see Matthew Hudson-Smith win his race by almost a second in 46.29 - could he be the next big breakthrough? Daniel Awde won his heat in 46.4 Very intrigued to see what Hudson-Smith can do over 400 this season - split 45.9 at Euro Juniors as a ...

Re: Outdoor season 2014

Exceptional start to the season for Duane Solomon winning in 1.43.88 for a WL and Sowinski is already in 1.44 point; must be preparing for the World Relays. Solomon is going to have a long season if he contests the DL, Continental Cup etc. With Rudisha, and Amos returning to action and Aman at his b...

Smaller organization ? I don't think you have any idea of the popularity and increasing numbers are playing netball England registered athletes (mostly joggers) 128,000 against 75000 registered netball players ...females only ! which in my mind more than out does the total number of female register...

Re: THE 2014 STATISTICAL REVIEW OF BRITISH ATHLETICS T&f

Take a look at Netball for example. RTV - I don't have much (any?) experience of other sports outside of T&F - what is the 'norm' in other sports, with regards NGBs helping clubs to get members, as I haven't seen anything (as an outsider to those sports) in terms of, say, marketing material

Shows how much the prestige of sub-10 for 100m has fallen that this story hasn't been mentioned earlier. Simon Magakwe won the South African Nationals with a PB and world lead of 9.98 seconds. Apologies Jimbo but I really can't resist, Atlanta is almost certainly still in the state of Georgia! Amazing to think a country with the history of T&F that the US has, that they don't have the facilities to host a WC. What state is Atlanta in (financially and facilities-wise) - could they not step up to get a WC finally hosted by the US?

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

My view is you will have to wait a while before Mo does another Marathon. I agree. To me there is nothing in Mo's post-race interview to suggest that he was actually making the marathon his main speciality right away. I wouldn't be surprised if his next one is New York 2016 or London 2017 (the Lond...

Re: 2014 Multi Events

I think we might just get there...whether the athletes then get selected is another question! For the women, you'd have to hope Ennis was back by then, so her, KJT and Morgan Lake would be favourites, though it would be nice to see some of the 5700+ girls step up In the Dec, you'd have to expect Ash...

The burning question is; Why does this BigGuts get so desperatly wound up on this subject? Petty squabbling and focusing on individuals does nothing for the actual issues, on either ...

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

Back on topic, given a 2.20 debut and her declining (in absolute terms) final last laps on the track, should BFD make the move to the marathon now and target that event in champs from 2015 and beyond?

Will her sister's form encourage her from or to the roads?

Re: The REALLY interesting London Marathon Debut

Of course they are fast times; I took Mump to mean Mo never tried to run his fastest times, as I'm sure no one here believes that he isn't capable of running quicker, he just hasn't needed to when at his peak - as winning medals was more his thing than all-time lists (not that the two are mutually e...
