Re: New Track at Fox Hollies in Birmingham

Checking my notes for www.runtrackdir.com from my visit here in 1999 (where does the time go!) it did not have throws facility then because "the infield is an all-weather football/hockey pitch so no throws are possible".

Presume that is still the case?

Were results of Jav Fest 7 on 11th April ever made available?

Would like them for Power of 10 please...

Cheers
Tim

Well at least Mo was there as was Jo. A glance at the 5000/10000 rankings reveals they are easily our best in both events this year. It's just that their standard does not cut much ice at world level now. Bit like us getting excited by having a few just under 2 runners but then it gets won in 1:54.....

Always think this is one of the big problem with "elite" athletics is that there is hardly any for the domestic audience to look at. UKA website (somewhat bizarely) have been leading on this Gateshead meet for the last month and it was almost as if the Olympics never happened - well I gues...

Perhaps part of the problem here is that we are desparately trying to discover a "system" we never actually had. The ones you mentioned just seem to come along. I trnded the think the "system" was having figurehead athletes who kids wanted to aspire to be. I recall Bradley Wiggin...

Interesting thread. Would people like to see in this sort of thing in Athletics Data? The reason why we haven't to date is largely that it is an awful lot of effort to monitor literally everything in "real time" and then transcribe it for general consumption and then do it in a way that co...

> And to only provide the name, sex, date of birth and the date on which the registration fee was paid. Such info would be invaluable to us at Athletics Data. As it is we have to contact clubs ourselves directly to ask for it. But at least we can demonstrate a useful purpose for the info - that of m...

Ah yes but Ian Huntley got a life ban from public life for his crime.

Shipman would do well to anything now from his grave.

And as for Leeson I suspect he would be unlikely to win trader of the year and so earn the right to a big job again.

I felt it was unfortunate that when Dave Collins was interviewed on the BBC (see link from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/7240294.stm) that the interviewer made no mention of Myerscough which suggests very bad research (or lack of) from the news team. I would have liked to have heard Coll...

All comes down to the time of volunteers really. By the time results are found then decide what is worthy (and in athletics that is surprisingly difficult with so many types of meeting, events within them, age groups plus of course 2 genders) then transcribe that is many hours work. As for 'latest r...

> i do think it reasonable to hope that we can get back to the old GBR sites realibility and speed Ah yes but Martin who did gbrathletics and us at Athletics Data do all this for nothing and likewise it costs nothing for you to view it. If we can find somebody to spend 20 hours a weekend for no pay ...

We've imported most of the all-time data into Athletics Data. Just need to do a little more work on the robustness of the site before making them all generally available. But, for instance, http://www.athleticsdata.com/rankings/rankinglist.aspx?event=10000&agegroup=ALL&sex=M&alltime=y is...
