Re: Athletes on the move

With regards to bobsleigh and track/field athletes...transfer has been and is still pretty common here in the UK. I have a limited knowledge of all those who have made the move to the ice however I can name a few decent athletes that are currently involved with UK bobsleigh. The best example is Gill...

Re: What is happening?

Out of interest here are some numbers based on a purely competitive basis (I'll leave elitism arguments to others!). Athletics: 2,257 (1,177 men and 1,080 women) from 201 countries Archery: 130 (65 men and 65 women) from 55 countries Cycling: 526 (338 men and 188 women) from 75 countries Equestrian:...

Re: Live streaming?

Thank you very much guys/girls- very appreciated and I'm sure useful info for others. I've done as you have suggested Liam, and unfortuantely it has not worked. I'm going to keep plugging away on it though as I'm a bit of a completist :). In the mean time I'll follow your links Kermit and oldboy. Su...

Live streaming?

Hi guys, I live in a TV-less house and am finding the ch4 world champs website to be pretty rubbish. None of the coverage/highlights (when the link actually works...) or videos stream in either firefox/chrome/explorer on my computer. I'm greeted by a blank screen. From some of the posts it sounds li...

Re: Darren St. Clair,Face don't fit????

Runslow- following your argument why does he need funding? To rest more as far as I'm aware- but you also seem quite positive that he will run 1.44 and make a world final without funding...so why is it so neccessary? I dislike the whole idea of funding as it give athletes an excuse for not acheiving...

Re: Darren St. Clair,Face don't fit????

I do think that people like St. Clair deserve some sort of funding- unfortunately hes not a unique case and that could be his problem- if Darren gets funding then where do you stop? I see he has improved consistently and ran a 1.45 this year, which is good, however one fast race is hardly a case for...

The last two majors have been won gun to tape (by Bungei and Mulaudzi)- its not always such a risky tactic as the leader can dictate the tempo. I may be wrong but I think that neither of the two mentioned above were ranked number 1 when they won their titles- rather they used their experience of rac...

Isabre- I used to think you were cool :P http://www.thepowerof10.info/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=3076 On quick glance Gowell's p10 shows his 2008 best over 800 as 1.47.83i, which hints to me that his indoor pb is at least 1.47.83. I vaguely remembered the same fatmanrunning, hence why my curios...

29littlecutie I have heard of similar tales to your own. had countless blood tests which showed I was slightly anemic-nothing major though, I visited the doctors on numerous occassions hoping for a diagnosis and even saw a doc from the English institute of sport which was pricey but inconclussive! I don't have a clue if Rimmer is injured or not- but he looked majestic pace making the Sportcity BMC end of May. Looked effortless for an 80 sec 600 for the 800 race then again for around a 2'37/8 1k for the 1500. From what I gather in Milan there was no easing up...went through the bell in 50/51 t...

50-50

Agree with you on some fronts there Isabre but not on others; Baddeley, Rooney, Steele, Mason, Kwakye- have they done anything yet? Injured? Sayers and Danvers both injured- but on the 'plus' side (and in no way taking away from Dnvers quality hopefully to come later in the year) Elidh Child is runn...

it don't come cheap

The 75k mentioned above will come from the host team- thats essentially what a city will have to pay to own a francise (sp?? sorry!). I think uka are keen to roll out the 8 meetings next year (kit deal is in the pipeline with the provider of this years kit)...but will 8 cities/councils be willing to...

hmmm

All very fair and well discussing who the 4th 'problem' slot should go to, but the real issue is the relay ability of christine o. She just has never done it in a relay. How can a 49.5 runner consistently only run 51 relay legs? Is it deliberate (I've heard whispers...), she just never puts her self...

borzakovskiy had no competition and yet you include the uk womens 4x400? That was the weakest race of the champs and they didn't even win it (to put it in perspective the winning russian team wouldn't have medalled in 2007). Russia were ok at a push but the rest of the teams were a total joke. The m...

Yeah but theres running hard and theres running smart... What a stupid way to run a race- taking it out hard fair enough but 56 lows is sheer suicide. Medals were definately there for the taking if she had run alot more sensibily. Gutted for Meadows- ran a much better race than Okoro. So near and ye...
