Don't know about that but (Chris)tina Colebrook and Jane Colebrook were the same person as far as I can remember.

Can't someone persuade her to come on here and tell us the story?

I look on this forum after the FRA forum. I can't understand why this one hasn't developed to a level of maturity that the FRA one has. Especially as I make far more innane posts on the other and especially as this one is not plagued by the drivel my wife puts on the FRA one. Come to think of it I t...

Re: Athletics Weekly Index of Articles

I have been considering the idea of creating an index for Athletics Weekly. I have already created an index (on a series of spreadsheets) for most articles associated with cross country running (approximatel 10,000 records). It would be great to transfer this to an on-line system available on the i...

As far as I remember she was this country's best 800 and 1,500 Metre runner for a short while in the late 70s. I suppose at the time I was at the age when such people make an impression on you. I will try to find my old AWs to try to remind myself.

Bedford's World record over 10,000 metres has been beaten by overtaken by two British runners as far as I know, and I don't think he holds his club record over 5,000 metres. I am also inclined to take the stories about 200 mile weeks with a pinch of salt. However, that doesn't tell the full story. I...

Love the BBC, they are very knowledgable.

Brilliant!

Thanks FITC.

I'm a bit out of touch. Might have to shell out some money on some Athletics Weeklys between now and March. Are Roadrunner or any of his mates in it? I'm not being funny, I genuinely am out of touch.

Who else should we look out for?

What 'obvious' reasons are those? Presumably advertisers need to know.

I always assumed that AW sales had been more or less steady since time immemorial at say 20,000 or therabouts.

Re: The Greatest?

It's a completely pointless question like who is the greatest footballer, racing driver, skier, tennis player? Great athletes like great anybodys are a product of their time. If they were the best in their time (and of course some transend that period more than others for perhaps a couple of decades) ...

As for the suggestion that the BBC is free....! Eurosport does athletics pretty well. Brendan Foster was my biggest childhood hero. I don't necessarilly call for him to be sacked from the BBC, but I wish he would think a bit more why BBC coverage is such a turn off. There was a race a few years back...

Most of us who have slept at Teminal 3 (I have several times) have done so because we fell asleep on the last Tube on the Picadilly line. Wouldn't have stopped me doing a cross country race somewhere next day.

Not as fast maybe. Well done to them.

I don't really think slagging off Foster, Gunnell, Cram or whoever has rattled peoples cages this last few months will do very much. Lets look at this question the other way round. What is good about BBCs coverage of Athletics? I am sure there must be something. I think the BBc need to appreciate t...

Sky does the inter counties really well. It proves cross country can make good TV and that the BBC hasn't a clue.

Jesse Owens.

How is it that it takes a fell runner, rather than anyone else, to identify a sprinter as the greatest athlete the world has ever seen?

...even the southerners on here may find a local 'fell race' -there are races in Cornwall/Devon/Somerset/Dorset/Sussex/Hampshire/IOW/ Gloucestershire and Surrey in the FRA calendar so get out there and give it a go!! Cornwall, Hampshire and Sussex? Are you sure? However, I must admit I've lost my F...

Credit where it's due.

I don't have a problem with lots of results in AW.

And, whatever you say about failing to feature fell running, the fell results are covered fairly comprehensively in there.
