Disaster in the W U20 4×100 as both Great Britain and Germany ‘A’ misjudge the exchanges and don’t finish.

    [/uote]

Mens team were over a second slower than yesterdays line up but did get the baton round at least. They have been performing well this year and if they get the team selection right could get a PB at the world champs.

Yes I agree ,Some of the standards are just about unachievable and are way quicker / further / higher than required for entry to the Junior champs set by the IAAF.
I also noticed that the entry requirements for the U20 champs are mainly the same has for the U23 champs which potentially means a 17 year old requiring the same standard has a 23 year…[Read more]

Takes place this weekend in Bedford.
A lot on line for the U20’s with a first past the post finish for the World junior championship team places and European champs qualifying standards for everyone else.

I have been told, although I can’t confirm, that Nike sponsered athletes have to wear international kit if they have it because it has their logo on.

Glave publicly stated in AW a couple of weeks ago that World Juniors is the priority this year and for that he will need a British passport which I believe he dosent have yet. From past experience I’m sure British Athletics will have a hand in that and it won’t be an issue by then.
The real frustration is that the “non plastic Brits” then don’t…[Read more]

Great championships for the team who left Grosseto on a high only for British Airways to totally wreck it by given the team a 7 hour delay at the airport. After leaving their hotel at 5am for a 11 O’clock flight they final departed at 18:15 !!

When asked yesterday He said that he wasn’t eligeble but I suspect it depends how much GB need him in the team and if he can get a passport in time.

I think that you may be correct with 2 championships so close together but for the last Commonwealth youth games England athletics only took U17 athletes even though the champs are for athletes that are 18 or under. Will wait for clarification on that with interest.

So it appears that British Athletics aren’t supporting this event on its last edition next year.
It does seem odd that they are happy to take away the opportunity of racing abroad for GB away from U18 athletes.

The biggest frustration for the U17 and U20 age groups in the last couple of years has been the criteria required for Major overseas championships. They were made to chase times all season untill a few days before the championships and therefore we ended up with disappointed athletes and tired championship athletes. This meant that at least one…[Read more]
