He already has automatic entry into the Euro’s as the reigning 400m champion (first time they are doing this), so it’s not like he’s risking his place in the team by trying the 800

Perhaps an explanation as to why her progression has been stifled these past few years… since 2014 she’s had cysts on both her knees and has been running through the pain – sounds as though surgery is imminent now though:

Sorry, I was talking about the IAAF World Indoors entry standards policy – that being said, UKA could change the qualification periods like they often do, but theoretically speaking they could still select athletes with standards from 2017 regardless of their UKA policy.

As for the Commonwealth policy I haven’t actually seen it yet.

I remember the early selection for the 2014 team causing problems as well – CJ and MHS both running sub 10/sub 45 times before the CWG qualification period ended but the team had already been selected way in advance.

Looking at the selection policy, it says performances from 1 January 2017 to 19 February 2018 will only be accepted, so for a lot of athletes they won’t actually have to chase indoor standards at the start of 2018, as they’ll either have them already from the 2017 indoor season or the 2017 outdoor season. That could play a part in which champs our…[Read more]

    Wow wow wow wow wow!!!

    Amazing run from the guys!

Makes you wonder just what Adam could’ve done in the 200 doesn’t it

Apparently British Athletics have said they have no idea what Rooney’s comments are about and that MHS is still in contention to be selected for tomorrow’s final.

If true and MHS is fit, swap Rooney out for MHS and we suddenly have a real chance of a medal.

Yeah he did, seems weird that he’s tweeting as though he’s only just pulled out today

Kilty out with injury (why was he even selected???)

  • replied to the topic hayden in the forum Current events 2 months, 1 week ago

Is Miller injured or did she just tire in the most bizarre fashion?

If she is injured, Dina suddenly becomes a real contender for Bronze, and even if she’s not injured she looks like she’ll be running on tired legs.

We sent 5 steeplechasers because the selection policy stated they wanted as full of a team as possible for a home champs

We left behind Gale because he didn’t have the qualifying standard and didn’t receive an invite from the IAAF.

What happens if these conditions arise again for the final? Ugen could end up winning Gold with a 6.70 jump lol

Ah yes I forgot about the weather (which is pretty dumb of me considering I mentioned it in the very same post lol)

First day/night without a Brit in a final, but I’m sure the British crowd won’t mind as they’ll get to see Mo get a run out in the 5000 heats tonight.

I hope our Long Jump women can progress to the final, perhaps the poor weather conditions will play in their favour, although I can only see Ugen making it through with Sawyers and Proctor nowhere…[Read more]

As I’ve said in a few threads recently, Kyle’s performance reminded me of Shelayna Oskan-Clarke’s surprise performance in Beijing 2015. Great to watch

It’s a shame there was an empty lane in that 400m final considering Matt Hudson-Smith was 9th in the semis

So my question the other day of “will any of our 800m boys ‘pull a shelayna'” has been answered (in fact was better than Shelayna did in 2015)

I hope instances like Shelayna in 2015 and Kyle in 2017 show selectors that you don’t have to be ranked in the top half of entries in order to make finals and get close to medals

How did Bianca Williams make it through as the fastest loser and how did Shannon Hylton end up being one hundredth away from advancing as a fastest loser? At this rate peg-legged Dina could end up medalling
