His own coach basically gets caught by a Telegraph reporter speaking freely about doping and offers to get him doped.

I’m not entirely surprised. I’ve often thought the talent pool in elite cycling was rather shallow compared to athletics, helped by the fact there is hardly any money or rewards invested in developing cyclists outside of the UK in comparision. It’s only natural a talented athlete could switch and excell. Rebeca Romaro was a good example who…[Read more]

    Agreed.

the hfact is the common reason why athletes are found to take PEDs eitehr on purposely/forced by coaches or federations/accidently is the need to get “an edge”. If drugs are allowed under any conditions or restrictions then what’s next? These same federations and cheaters can only get an edge by startingt he doping early, e.g. doping…[Read more]

I know not many have een won with lower scores but remove Kluft and Ennis herself and 6750 odd would move you into the gold region or close to it often enough. Ennis was just off her 2009 world championship score. But also let us remember mentality is a bigger factor in sport thn peole give credit for. The vast majority of people could be…[Read more]

Indeed. Beating teh drug cheats is helping sav ethe sport. Not that some “americans” care. gh over at T&FN threatened me with a ban for pointing out this was the narrative for the whole race and that science has shown a long temr benifit of steroid use which Gatland has gained from. No he just wanted the whole race to be about how good Gatlin…[Read more]

You think KJT was the only emotional athlete ever? Plenty are in every sport. Remember when Murray cried at Wimbledon but still gave all the credit to Federer? Ennis did the parade when she lost in 2011. As did Sotherton when she lost to a doper. It’s about respect and no matter how bad you feel you can always show respect.

This wa snot a medoicre score, it was a decent one. world championships have been won on less than this. It’s a fairly standard non-Kluft/Ennis score actually. That only shows how exceptional Ennis and Kluft was.

It’s perfectly fair to expect KJT to go in the multi-event parade. It suggests a big case of bad sportsmanship when she doesn’t. I don’t believe Ennis ever avoided it when she lost and Sotherton didn’t despite knowing she lost to outright cheats. She had hours to get ready for it, it wasn’t as if she only just suffered the shock.

I can see both side sof the argument. It can’t be denied that in virtually all her big moments these past 3 years KJT has mentally screwed something up that cost her that is fequently papered over by her host of PBs. It’s harsh but I can’t remember a championship where she ahsn’t wlaked away disapointed or down for some reason. Even the doors…[Read more]

I said a few years ago Laura Ikauniece had potential and I’m gald after years of injury and illness she has stepped up.

heartbreak for KJT. But she has years ahead. But you can’t deny that Ennis-Hill having been robbed of a gold by drug cheats didn’t deserve this and showed again why she is a champion. I though a couple of years ago…[Read more]

It’s sad isn’t it? However I do think a fair few of the old eastern block are doped without their consent or are all but forced into it.

Indeed. Wasn’t he paid an obscene bonus for this deal? Wasn’t Aviva scrapped because he hada plan of a family of sponsors being better. I’d laugh at the useless scrub, but it now seems British Athletics is increasingly dependent on Nike’s funding and from what I see in America that is toxic beyond belief and bad for British athletics.

While Lets runs is one extreme of the doping coversation (“Everyone is doping”/”Everyone except Americans are doping”/”Everyone except my favourite is doping”) GH at T&FN is at the other end of the scale, he actively protects dopers, probably due to his love of US dominance and their dirty pasts.

I agree. But Mo broke no rules. I’ve made a mad dash out at 6am to help my mum who fell before. You think I’m thinking of the off chance testers will be there at 7am to update them? No. Hence why there is a 2 chance rule.

I could be wrong, but i thought the German documentary implied a top female british athlete at that time?

Now having defended the media’s conduct so far, I think that is smearing a little (though in context still valid to report). I’ve missed doorbells for amazon packages before and the whereabouts rules allowing two missed test (in 18 months I think?), because it is frankly quite impossible for even the most organised person to ensure they will…[Read more]

In this case everything the media says is true and I’m someone who knows the media is biased and full of agenda, however I am being objective. They aren’t the ones making the accusation, they are reporting a documentary did. They haven’t said Salazar was doping, only the documentary showed evidence of it. I’m not blindly believing the media but…[Read more]

The “not her coach, one of her coaches” thing is a statement designed to deflect. It doesn’t matter she had other coaches. Don’t act like “if it wasn’t for Mo” doesn’t make British interest valid, there were tons of British media commentating on the Russian documentary to that had little British connection. The British press always makes an…[Read more]

Whya re people calling it a witch hunt. This is a genuine and serious allegation from 17 athlees and coaches if Epstein is true and ther eis no reason to lie when some of those athletes spoke on TV about it. Also Salazar is clearly not truthful, this BC article points out in the Decker Case Salazar in his own autobiography mentioned he coached…[Read more]

Indeed, given that Nike have brou….sponsored UK Athletics like they brought USA athletics where their undue influence has already stretched to influencing race decisions at Salazar’s request already suggests UK Athletics know they will do what the f#’#k they are told to keep their nice fat pay cheques coming or to ensure the head doesn’t…[Read more]
