That’s disappointing, do british athletics have a deadline for picking the combined events entries for London?
There’s a couple of iaaf combined <span class=”vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default”><span class=”vm-hook” style=”color: rgb(0, 153, 0); border-color: transparent transparent rgb(0, 153, 0);”>event</span><span class=”vm-hook-icon” style=”display: inline-block;”></span></span> challenge meetings between now and the end of June in Kladno and Rattingen that he might have to target if he wants to make the team.
Guess any plans will be dependent on what he does here…if he carries on until the end then he’ll need to wait longer before his next Decathlon. Kladno is next week so too soon regardless when you factor in travel. Rantingen might be a possibility if he drops out. Perhaps the best bet would be the Euro U23s next Month which would then leave him another 4 weeks before the Worlds Decathlon should he qualify.
In terms of the selection for worlds the bulk of athletes will be selected on 10th July just before EUro U23s. However British Athletics will select anyone who hits qualifying after this date up until the IAAF deadline on 23rd July if there are spaces in the team. Given that it’s unlikely anyone other than Ashley will have qualified there will surely be Decathlon spaces available.
