Tim Duckworth is competing in a Decathlon competition this weekend. He has had a very good 1st day scoring 4355 so has given himself a good chance of getting the 8100 Worlds standard.
He set PBs of 10.62 in 100m, 7.87 in the LJ & a big PB of 49.18 in the 400. I had hoped he’d go sub 50 but he should now be looking at a 48.xx clocking later in the season. His Shot was 12.25 perhaps slightly disappointing & having cleared each height 1st time up to 2.11 he may have wanted another height in the HJ but this is nitpicking in the grand scheme of things. He’s competing against Devon Williams who pipped him to the NCAA Indoor title & leads by24 points overnight.
The way he’s been going this year you’d almost anticipate another PB or 2 tomorrow. I just hope he isn’t too reliant on a strong 1500 to get the standard given this is clearly his weakest event.
