Salomon Sunset Series – EdinburghVisit Event Website
One of the best things about running at this time of year is the number of daylight hours into which you can fit your training. It’s not just the warmer weather which makes such a pleasant change – whether you get your exercise fix first thing in the morning or later into the day after work, it’s great to leave the headtorch and hi-viz gear in the drawer for a few months at least.
Summer also offers the chance to chase some spectacular sunsets – and that is just what a new range of events will endeavour to do over the coming weeks.
The Salomon Sunset Series is made up of four 10km trail runs around the UK – starting in Leeds on May 20 before heading to Edinburgh on June 3, London on June 24 and Bristol on July 8. Each will be a celebration of heading away from the roads and pavements, of taking the off-road option and giving your running a more natural backdrop.
As the name of the series suggests, the aim is for participants to complete the course in time to then enjoy a spectacular sunset in fittingly glorious surroundings – from Arthur’s Seat in the heart of Edinburgh to Box Hill in Surrey.
At each event there will also be pop-up villages which will offer the chance to take part in running workshops, hear from running experts, learn about the latest trail running kit and learn more about trail runs local to you.
The trick now is for the British weather to help out!
