The Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 walk or trail run is an event suited to all the family, with a choice of distances from 5km to the more demanding 42k/marathon, or even a 50km ultra marathon.
The routes will be over footpaths, bridle ways and quiet country roads in the Salisbury Wessex area. The walk/trail runs will take you past a variety of sites of historical and scientific interest and through country estates not usually open to the general public.
This has been made possible by the kind permission of several landowners along the route and including English Heritage.

The Serpent Trail – 10k
The Serpent Trail is a long distance trail run through some of the most breathtaking countryside in the South East. The 10km running race is the last 10km of the Serpent Trail’s southern end to Petersfield and is a mix of sandy heathland paths, woodland tracks plus quiet country roads.
This is a flat, fast course and ideal for a seasoned or beginner runner. Our busses drop you off at the 10km start in Dumpford and the Serpent Trail follows a country lane for the first 3.5km to Nyeford before heading into woods, fields and farmland with the odd road crossing to take you into the edge of Petersfield and on to the finish at the Rugby club.
Online entries only – ENTRIES CLOSE 9PM FRIDAY JUNE 29 or when the event is full.

Newark Half Marathon
The Eden Hall Middlebeck Newark Half Marathon is a flat, fast and scenic summer race, mainly on closed roads. The setting is historic Newark with its castle and civil war museum. The race starts in the Sconce Park, site of civil war battles, passes the Ice Age Journey dig, where our ancestors settled over 13,000 years ago, skirts East Stoke, site of the bloodiest civil battle through Elston, birth place of the Darwin family and then back to the Sconce Park. Start time 9.30am.
New this year is the DB Wood Challenge. The first male runner to finish in under 66 minutes and the first female to finish in under 76 minutes will receive £500 each, donated by DB Wood. The organisers feel strongly that prizes for the half-marathon should be awarded equally with respect to gender and age category. This recognises age graded ability and not simply the fastest. Age grade prizes total over £1300. 1st £80, 2nd £60, 3rd £40, 4th £35, 5th £30.
