Dedicated off-road running club named as January winner in latest round of awards
Haldon Trail Runners has been voted as the January winner of the Ronhill/AW Club of the Month awards, with Steve Gaines earning the accolade of Ronhill Ambassador of the Month.
Despite having only been in existence since April 2010, Haldon Trail Runners has not let its youth hold it back. In less than three years, the dedicated off-road running club has attracted around 40 members, most of whom had never been involved with a running club before.
The club was founded by husband and wife Ian and Helen Lynch (pictured above). The club may still be in its infancy, but that has not prevented the UKA certified coaches from establishing a professional environment, assisted by five qualified run leaders.
Gaines, meanwhile, receives the honour of Ambassador of the Month, with the south Yorkshire athletics stalwart (pictured right) recognised for his hard work and commitment to Rotherham Harriers, where he currently holds the position of club secretary.
Every month, we will announce the winners of the Athletics Weekly Club and Club Ambassador awards, which are supported by Ronhill and assisted by Hilly Limited and Ridgeway Textiles. The awards reinforce our joint commitment to grassroots club athletics and will culminate in our annual awards. You can enter here.
Winning clubs receive £150 of Ronhill kit and a trophy, while the chosen ambassador gets £100 of kit and a trophy.
