Your chance to witness the home-coming appearances of Britain’s Olympic medal-winning athletes
Are you suffering from post-Olympic blues already? Were you not quite ready for the London 2012 Olympics to end?
Sadly we do not have a time machine to rewind the past two weeks, but we do have two pairs of tickets up for grabs for the Birmingham Diamond League on Sunday August 26, where some of Britain’s Olympic medallists will be competing.
Double Olympic champion Mo Farah will be the star attraction of the meeting. In London he made history by becoming the first British man to win the 5000m and 10,000m double at the Olympics, and in Birmingham he will be competing in the two miles. Joining him will be his training partner and Olympic 10,000m medallist Galen Rupp of the USA.
Fellow Olympic champion Greg Rutherford will also be in action. He will be facing world and Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor, Olympic silver medallist Mitchell Watt, and co-holder of the UK record Chris Tomlinson.
Olympic bronze medallist and European champion Robbie Grabarz will take on the man who beat him to the Olympic title, Ivan Ukhov of Russia.
Elsewhere, world champion and Olympic silver medallist Carmelita Jeter heads the field in the women’s 100m, while the men’s 110m hurdles witnesses an epic clash between world champion Jason Richardson and US record-holder David Oliver. Olympic champion Jenn Suhr takes on world champion Fabiana Murer and UK record-holder Holly Bleasdale in the pole vault.
